The Great American Read!
Hey everyone!
Have you heard of The Great American Read? If not, you should totally check it out! Essentially, The Great American Read, which is hosted by Meredith Vieira, is a celebration of literature. By polling thousands of Americans all over the country, PBS compiled a list of 100 novels (they are all fiction) that Americans seemed to love most. You get to vote for your favorites (as many times as one vote per book per day), and in the Fall, America's best loved book will be revealed.
The Great American Read is a really wonderful concept; it aims to get people excited about novels again, and reading again. So you have time to read some books you haven't read before that interest you. The first episode is on the PBS website, and it is free, you don't have to login, and there are no commercials! You can watch it here.
You can also see the list of novels here, and you can find out more about them by clicking on each respective novel. But honestly, the first episode, which introduces each of the novels, is a must-watch for any book nerd!
Which ones have you read? Which ones will you be voting for? Which novels are you interested in reading? Which ones are you surprised to see (let's face it, we're all surprised Fifty Shades is on there)? Which ones are you surprised not to see? Let me know in the comments!
XOXO,
Isabella
