The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Image
This month, I read the final book in The Illuminae Files , Obsidio . I absolutely devoured it; it was a fantastic conclusion that I gave 5/5 stars. In fact, I gave every single book in this trilogy 5/5 stars. The series starts with Illuminae , and it follows two characters, Kady and Ezra. Right after Kady breaks up with Ezra, their planet is invaded by a corrupt and powerful corporation. Kady, Ezra, and a few thousand people manage to escape onto spaceships, but they have the corporation that wants to silence them right on there tails as well as a possibly murderous artificial intelligence in their way. In each book, we are introduced to two new main characters who are the main protagonists of each book, although the main characters from each previous book make appearances. It's the same format as Amie Kaufman's other sci-fi trilogy that she co-wrote with Meagan Spooner (The Starbound trilogy, I highly recommend them!) What makes these books so unique is the format in...

My part in the tour will start on May 8th over on my instagram page ( isabellactivist ), and there will also be a fun royal-related post here on my blog, so make sure to check it out! XOXO, Isabella

Legendary by Stephanie Garber

Image
I recently completed the sequel to Caraval , Legendary , by Stephanie Garber, and I have so much to say! This book was AMAZING!!! Caraval was also amazing, but this book was even better! For those of you who haven't read Caraval , it follows two sisters, Scarlett and Tella, as they participate in magical carnival/circus-esque game. So if you haven't read Caraval , go read it, and then come back and find out what Legendary is about! In Legendary , we actually follow a different character, Scarlett's sister Tella, as she plays Caraval once again in an effort to uncover the true identity of Caraval master Legend. There are even more eccentric characters in this novel, and it is just so, so good! That's all I can say for now, but if you haven't read Caraval , read it now (you won't regret it!) and then read Legendary when it comes out on May 29th! **A big thanks to Flat Iron books for sending an advanced copy my way!** Rating: 5/5 stars

The Book of Essie by Meghan Maclean Weir

I recently finished The Book of Essie by Meghan Maclean Weir, and... oh my gosh. This book was FANTASTIC. I can't wait for more people to read it when it comes out in June. Before I get into my review, I do want to make sure you are all aware that there are some trigger warnings in this novel. However, they do somewhat spoil the novel, so I will put an asterisk by the trigger warning at the bottom of this review if you would like to know what they are. The Book of Essie is a multi-perspective adult fiction novel that is centered around a family very similar to the Duggars, from Nineteen Kids and Counting . The family in this novel is quite literally a fictional version of the Duggar family. We follow three perspectives, the main of which is seventeen-year-old Essie, the youngest member of the family that stars on the reality television show Six for Hicks . The book begins when Essie, whose upbringing is centered around her faith, discovers she's pregnant. From there we f...
